Vessel Safety Checks The Vessel Safety Check (VSC) program helps to achieve voluntary compliance with federal and state recreational boating safety laws, particularly with regard to the carriage of safety equipment while raising boater awareness about safety and environmental issues through voluntary contact by a Vessel Examiner (VE).  VE discussions with recreational boaters is designed to motivate maintaining and operating their boats in a safe manner, taking boating safety courses to increase their knowledge and skills in boating, and promoting safe boating. The Clearwater Sail and Power Squadron gives Vessel Safety Checks free of charge. If you would like to have a VSC, call our squadron at (727) 441-8775 or send an e-mail to getavsc@clearwaterpowersquadron.org and a Vessel Examiner will get in touch with you to schedule the Vessel Safety Check.  A "USCG minimum equipment requirements for recreational vessels" flyer can be reviewed at the USPS National website to help you.
